Double Indemnity (Paramount, 1944)
Lobby Cards (3) (11" X 14"). Life insurance. The idea was simple enough; when you died, your beneficiaries would be compensated for their loss of your income. It was also an e-ticket for a family member with big ideas to send you on a one-way trip to the big sleep. Director Billy Wilder used James M. Cain's famous novel as the basis for this seminal film noir. However, the screenplay was written by the leading noir author of the era, Raymond Chandler. No one could ever match Chandler's dialogue, and the result was a legendary film that was nominated for Best Picture. Offered in this lot are three lobby cards from this set. The beautiful portrait card of Fred MacMurray and Barbara Stanwyck has had slight restoration work to corner pinholes and one small border chip. The other two cards have multiple pinholes in the corners and borders and small corner creases. Fine/Very Fine. (Total: 3 items)

Sunset Boulevard (Paramount, 1950).
Three Lobby Cards (3) (11" X 14"). Billy Wilder's classic film starred Gloria Swanson as a washed up silent film star who collaborates with an impoverished, indebted screen writer (played by William Holden), all the while being contemptuously watched at a distance by her loyal and jealous chauffeur, played by legendary director Erich Von Stroheim. The lobby cards have smudges, card #5 has pinholes, and card #3 has a 2" tear at the top that has been repaired on the back with tape. Offered here are three great cards, each featuring Swanson and Holt, and one featuring Von Stroheim as well. Fine+. (Total: 3 pieces)

Where Danger Lives (RKO, 1950).
Three Sheet (41" X 81"). Faith Domergue, a Howard Hughes protégé, is best remembered for her energetic 50s sci-fi performances in "This Island Earth" (1955) and "The Atomic Man" (1956). Here she co-stars with Robert Mitchum and Claude Rains, in a John Farrow
film noir
, as Margo Lannington, an abused wife of a sadistic millionaire (Rains). At the hospital, after a suicide attempt, she meets and falls in love with intern Jeff Cameron (Mitchum). When Mr. Lannington mysteriously dies, Jeff gets entangled in Margo's deceptions, and the two flee to Mexico where he discovers her true nature. There is slight fold line wear and three tears at the top that extend down into the background. The tear in the upper left corner extends into the "M" in Mitchum. The poster has been professionally restored, making these defects hard to detect. This wonderful large- format poster offers a terrific image of a young Mitchum grasping the vivacious Domergue who's clad in a seductively revealing red dress. Very Fine on Linen.

Scarlet Street (Universal, 1945).
Three Sheet (41" X 81"). Fritz Lang masterfully directs this bleak film about an ordinary man, Christopher Cross (Edward G. Robinson), who is in a loveless marriage, and is lured into an affair when he meets a woman named Kitty (Joan Bennett). Kitty manipulates Robinson into embezzling money from his employer in order to pay for her lavish lifestyle. When Cross realizes he has been manipulated, he starts on a downward spiral, ultimately leading to murder by the film's end, where he's so haunted by guilt and remorse that he suffers a mental breakdown. There is slight fold line wear, pinholes and one area in the credits at the bottom where a snipe has been removed. The poster has been professionally restored, minimizing these defects. Very Fine on Linen.

The Third Man (British Lion Film, 1949).
Three Sheet (41" X 81"). Carol Reed's "The Third Man" is one of the odd successes among international films of the late 1940s. Here was a quirky movie from England, with Hitchcock-like touches and an odd sense of humor, that manages to be grim, and wryly witty, while retaining a good bit of author Graham Greene's sensibility. Producer Alexander Korda wanted Noël Coward to play the mysterious Harry Lime, but, once Orson Welles was cast in the part, the movie became a testament to his presence and impact; he's only on screen for about a quarter of the movie, but he's the actor that everyone remembers. There is fold line wear with small areas of paper loss, slight creases and smudges. The poster has been professionally restored, rendering these defects hard to detect. Very Fine- on Linen.

I Walk Alone (Paramount, 1948).
Three Sheet (41" X 81"). Bootleggers Frankie Madison (Burt Lancaster) and Noll Turner (Kirk Douglas), are about to get caught by the cops. They decide to split-up, vowing that the one who gets away will protect the other's interest in their jointly owned nightclub. Madison gets caught and when released from prison 14 years later, comes to reclaim his interest. But Turner has no intention of honoring the deal and uses Madison's brother Dave (Wendell Corey) and his own girlfriend Kay (Lizabeth Scott), to help con his old partner. Madison is not easily fooled however, and soon plots his revenge. There is fold line wear with minor paper loss, primarily at the fold line intersections. The center intersection has a fair amount of paper loss, and there are a few scattered holes. The poster has been restored, minimizing these defects, and offers a striking, large format image of a young Burt Lancaster. Fine/Very Fine on Linen.
