Description

Scarlet Street (Universal, 1945). Three Sheet (41" X 81"). Fritz Lang masterfully directs this bleak film about an ordinary man, Christopher Cross (Edward G. Robinson), who is in a loveless marriage, and is lured into an affair when he meets a woman named Kitty (Joan Bennett). Kitty manipulates Robinson into embezzling money from his employer in order to pay for her lavish lifestyle. When Cross realizes he has been manipulated, he starts on a downward spiral, ultimately leading to murder by the film's end, where he's so haunted by guilt and remorse that he suffers a mental breakdown. There is slight fold line wear, pinholes and one area in the credits at the bottom where a snipe has been removed. The poster has been professionally restored, minimizing these defects.
