Description

Where the Trail Divides (Paramount, 1914). One Sheet (28.5" X 42").
Produced at the famous Lasky barn near Hollywood and Vine, Where the Trail Divides was a sober depiction of the relationship between a white girl (Winifred Kingston) and a college-educated Native American (Robert Edeson). Their marriage breaks up when she cannot face being called a "squaw," but her next lover, a white man, proves a tyrannical brute. This historical poster was produced by a very young Paramount Pictures which began that very year and as noted by the logo in the upper right from the "Jesse L. Lasky Feature Play Company" with Cecil B. DeMille's name as Director General. The Squaw Man, generally considered Paramount's first film, was released in February of 1914, and this film was released in October of the same year. The poster had a small chip from the upper right border corner and some staining in the lower left corner which has been professionally restored. The poster was flat folded with no vertical fold prior to backing, trimmed to the border. This poster comes with a wonderful custom made black frame which the buyer may have shipped to them. Very Fine on Linen.
