    Description

The Outlaw (20th Century Fox, 1941). First Release One Sheet (27" X 41") Style A.
It has been almost a decade since Heritage presented this nearly unobtainable style A one sheet for the originally scheduled 1941 United Artists release of The Outlaw. Wildly controversial, the film was held up by censorship problems and not officially released until 1943, making these posters extremely hard to find. Jane Russell became one of the most well known Hollywood actresses in the world without having been seen in a film, all to the credit of Howard Hughes' incredibly successful ad campaign. She's radiant against a desert sky in this image, with Jack Buetel as Billy the Kid grinning in the background. The poster displays very well, benefiting from touchup to the folds, and excellent restoration has addressed chips in Russell's face along the vertical fold, a tear from the forehead to the mouth of Russell, chips in the corners, pinholes in the borders, paper loss in the bottom border at the vertical fold, and a small hole in Beutel's shirt. Fine- on Linen.
