    Description

The Life of Buffalo Bill (Pawnee Bill Film Co., 1912). One Sheet (27" X 41").
William F. Cody (a.k.a. Buffalo Bill) was one of the most colorful figures of the Old West. Before Cody went into show business, he had a number of occupations including trapper, Colorado "Fifty-Niner," Pony Express rider, wagon master, stagecoach driver, Civil War soldier, and even hotel manager. He was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor in 1872 for his role as a scout for the United States Army (1868-1872). Cody's Wild West Shows were an enormous success in the late 1880s and remained a popular subject in the early 1900s when this very early silent three-reeler was made. This gorgeous stone litho one sheet has had restoration to pinholes and small tears in the borders, a tear in the lower left corner, and the bottom and lower right borders have been touched up. There is a minor unaddressed tear in the chief's war bonnet. Very Fine- on Linen.
