    Description

The Devil Dodger (Triangle, 1917). Very Good/Fine on Linen. One Sheet (28" X 40.75"). Western.
The name Roy Stewart might mean little today, but in the mid-to-late 1910s, Stewart was a close competitor to Western stars such as William S. Hart and Tom Mix. In this early cowboy picture, Stewart portrays Silent Scott, a gambler who runs a frontier town with an iron fist. Upon the scene arrives a wandering preacher, referred to in those days as a "Sky Pilot," played by future matinee idol John Gilbert. Stewart appears in a life size portrait on this handsome stone litho one sheet, which has been professionally conserved to address fold wear, piholes, and creasing. There were tears and paper loss in the borders and interior, including tears in Roy Stewart's image. The right border was once partially trimmed and has been restored. Grades on all restored items are pre-restoration grades. Very Good/Fine on Linen.
