The Deadly Companions by Enzo Nistri (Warner Bros., 1962). Fine/Very Fine. Signed Original Italian Mixed Media Poster Artwork on Illustration Board (18.5" X 23").
Talented Italian artist Enzo Nistri provides the exceptional artwork for this Sam Peckinpah Western, done in a colorful mix of gouache and watercolor and signed by Nistri himself. Deadly Companions marked Peckinpah's first foray into the world of directing motion pictures, coming on the heels of his bold yet short-lived television series, The Westerner. Both starred Brian Keith in the leading role, who was responsible for bringing Peckinpah onboard to direct this gritty cowboy picture. Signs of use found on this excellent piece of artwork include slight edge wear, pinholes, minor tears, and faint stains and smudges. Also present are thin scratches, soft surface scuffs, and some surface wear in the red bandana. There is a vellum protective cover that is attached at the top of the verso with adhesive. This artwork was used on the 4 - fogli and locandina formats, according to written information on the verso.
