    Description

Hopalong Cassidy Returns (Paramount, 1936). One Sheet (27" X 41").
William Boyd once again appears in his signature role in the fourth, and some consider the best, entry into the Hopalong Cassidy series. Known for having some of the higher production values found in the normally low budget Western genre, Hoppy's adventures found their way into larger theater chains across the nation, boosting the popularity of Boyd's black-clad good guy. This particular frontier fable boasted some of the series' best cinematography and costume designs, making the picture as visually appealing as it was thrilling. Evelyn Brent plays the alluring villainess, while George "Gabby" Hayes provides the supporting comic relief as Cassidy's faithful sidekick. Making only its second appearance at Heritage, this vibrant piece hasn't been offered at one of our auctions in over a decade. A steely-eyed portrait of our hero dominates this rarely seen poster, which shows slight fold separations, pinholes in the corners, small border tears, and a few diagonal creases at the corners and folds. There is a mild tear from the top border to the yellow background with some cellophane tape on the verso. Considered by many to be one of the best and most rare of the Hopalong posters known. Folded, Very Fine-.
