    Description

Gold of the Desert (Diamond Dot, 1923). One Sheet (26.75" X 41.75").
Using footage from Henry King's 1917 picture The Mainspring, the film Gold of the Desert rearranged the scenes from its source material and added new intertitles to tell a different story in the same genre and setting. The two films star actor/director Henry King in the leading role, supported by Ethel Pepperell, Robert Ensminger, and Cullen Landis, later known as the star of the first all-talking picture, Lights of New York. Offered for the first time by Heritage, this stock one sheet comes in two panels featuring a fantastic stone litho image up top and a text sheet at the bottom. Originally in two panels, this poster has had partial restoration to the borders and folds for chips and tears, several of which were in the upper section's image area but did not affect the characters' faces. The poster still shows staining and smudges in the borders, dust shadows, as well as creasing in the lower part of the image panel with minor bubbling. There is a a small chip in the bottom left corner and the side borders have a slight trim. There is some cracking in the image area touchup, and the linen has been trimmed to the borders, but not into the poster itself. Fine on Linen.
