The Bridge on the River Kwai (Columbia, 1958). French Grande (45.5" X 62") Style A.
Alec Guinness, William Holden, Sessue Hayakawa, and Jack Hawkins star in David Lean's epic Academy Award winning wartime masterpiece about a British Army Colonel held captive in a Japanese POW camp who is ordered to build a bridge for enemy use. Howard Hawks was originally offered the job as director for the film, but passed as he felt movie-goers wouldn't embrace an all-male cast. This incredible large format poster features absolutely stunning artwork by Jean Mascii. Professional restoration has addressed an extended tear in the upper right corner through "Cinemascope," pinholes in the borders, a chip in the right border. There is a minor stain in the lower right border, and touchup to the folds. Very Fine- on Linen.
