DescriptionThe War of the Worlds (Paramount, 1953). Fine/Very Fine on Paper. Half Sheet (22" X 28") Style B.
For sci-fi poster collectors, this gorgeous style B half sheet is one of the most iconic and most desirable of the entire genre. All of the artwork found on the original release posters is phenomenal, to say the least, but very few formats depict the incredible alien warships as seen on this fabulous poster. George Pal's classic adaptation of H. G. Wells' science fiction novel is one of the most powerful films of the era, thanks in good part to the director's use of three strip Technicolor and the picture's Academy Award-winning special effects that make the Martian onslaught against humanity even more harrowing. Very well restored, this poster once displayed pinholes, creases, a couple of surface scratches, and a few tears into the background from the left and bottom borders. Additionally, this prime collectible has had its borders airbrushed for a finalized and clean presentation.
Estimate: $10,000 - $20,000.
