Description

The Thin Man (MGM, 1934). One Sheet (27" X 41") Style D.
One of the most brilliant pairings ever arranged on the silver screen, few other movie duos could ever hope to compete with the sheer spark and verve produced between William Powell and Myrna Loy, especially in their famous roles as Nick and Nora Charles. Director W.S. Van Dyke made a perfect choice in his two leading actors, who continuously play off of the characters' good natured wit as they booze their merry way through Dashiell Hammett's murder mystery. A major hit among audiences, The Thin Man resulted in the first of four Best Picture Oscar nominations for Van Dyke, and the first of three Academy Awards nominations for Powell as Best Actor. Never sold before by Heritage, this incredibly rare Style D one sheet is the most famous image from the film's original release, so much so that it was reused as a duotone poster in the 1962 re-release. This stone litho beauty possesses astoundingly vibrant colors and is in exceptional condition, showing only a pinpoint crossfold separation, a couple of small tears at the center crossfold, faint offset, and thin horizontal creases on the right side. There are soft vertical folds from its original distribution. Folded, Very Fine.
