DescriptionThe Great Ziegfeld (MGM, 1936). Very Fine- on Linen. One Sheet (27" X 41"). Style D, Ted "Vincentini" Ireland Artwork.
Heritage has offered only a scant few one sheets for this stupendous MGM musical, and this Style D poster showcases a gorgeous portrait of the film's three stars by Golden Age poster artist Ted "Vincentini" Ireland. Benefitting from spectacular production value and great performances by William Powell, Myrna Loy, and Luise Rainer, the film was a huge hit, netting $40 million for MGM (equal to $762,235,971 today). It also garnered critical acclaim with a total of seven Oscar nominations, winning the categories of Best Picture, Best Dance Direction, and Best Actress for Rainer. Now displaying very well thanks to professional restoration, this poster no longer shows fold wear and separation, pinholes, or small chips and tears.
Estimate: $3,000 - $6,000.
