    Description

The Private Lives of Elizabeth and Essex (Warner Brothers, Late 1940s). First Post-War Release Italian 4 - Fogli (55" X 77.5") Duilio Cambellotti Artwork.
Based loosely on the real lives of Queen Elizabeth I and her court favorite, Robert Devereux, Earl of Essex, this top of the line production boasts the directorial talents of the esteemed Michael Curtiz and stars Errol Flynn, Olivia de Havilland, and Bette Davis as the Queen herself. A prestige picture for Warner Brothers, the outstanding supporting cast includes Vincent Price, Alan Hale, and Donald Crisp, and was nominated for five Academy Awards. Davis gives a performance of a lifetime, using her dynamic range of emotion, controlled anger, and signature mannerisms to portray the psychologically distraught queen. As rare as it is beautiful, this Italian poster showcases a beautifully detailed image by artist Duilio Cambellotti, in a splendid array of colors. This beautiful first-time offering at Heritage has had touchup applied to the folds, pinholes into the interior, border tears, and small chips in the borders and folds. Some of the tears extend into the outer background, and there is a tear off of a vertical fold through the horse's head. The borders have been airbrushed. Fine/Very Fine on Linen.
