    Description

The Prisoner of Zenda (Variety Film, 1937). Very Fine- on Paper. Italian 2 - Fogli (39" X 55") Anselmo Ballester Artwork. From the Mike Kaplan Collection.
Featuring incredible artwork by the renowned Anselmo Ballester, this Italian 2 - fogli is the only known copy, which Heritage is pleased to present for the first time. Ballester acknowledges that Ronald Colman played the dual doppelganger roles of King Rudolf V and Rudolph within this vibrant illustration. This was the fourth remake of the famous Anthony Hope novel and the first sound version. With a stellar cast including Madeline Carroll, Douglas Fairbanks Jr., Mary Astor, and David Niven, this is the most remembered of the many versions. This poster has benefitted from touchup to light fold wear, a couple of small tears, thin surface scuffs, and a few chips in the borders and crossfolds, which have splices attached with adhesive. Still present are pinholes, very minor tears, a few stains and smudges, and faint toning. This poster is backed on a extremely thin paper and has a few strips of mending tissue on the verso.
