    Description

    The Fighting Eagle (Pathé, 1927). One Sheet (27" X 41") Style A.
Based on Brigadier General by Arthur Conan Doyle, this swashbuckler romance was produced by Cecil B. DeMille and stars Rod La Rocque. As Brigadier Etienne Gerard, La Roque helps expose Foreign Minister Talleyrand (Sam de Grasse) as a traitor to Napoleon (Max Barwyn). La Roque's big acting break came a few years earlier when DeMille cast him in The Ten Commandments (1923). In 1927, he married Hungarian-born actress Vilma Bánky, of The Eagle (1925) and The Son of the Sheik (1926) fame. The film also features Phyllis Haver (Chicago, 1927), Julia Faye (Sampson and Delilah, 1949), and an unconfirmed appearance by Carole Lombard. A dashing portrait of La Roque fills this very rare one sheet, a Heritage first. The poster boasts vibrant colors and displays beautifully after restoration to a tiny chip in the bottom left corner, two chips in the right border, torn pinhole in the top left corner, small paper loss in the top vertical fold/cheek, a chip along one of the horizontal folds, tear in the bottom border, and pinholes in the corners. Fine/Very Fine on Linen.
