The Adventures of Robin Hood (Warner Bros., 1938). Very Fine on Paper. One Sheet (27.5" X 41"). From the Mike Kaplan Collection.In one of the greatest adaptations of a folktale ever projected onto the silver screen, Errol Flynn's landmark performance as the Prince of Thieves cemented his place as a reigning king of adventure, defining his career more so than any other role before or since. An excellent choice for Warner Bros. as their first big-budget picture in glorious Technicolor, this grand swashbuckler has become the stuff of movie legend with its perfect blend of action, romance, humor, and drama. The excellent performances of Olivia de Havilland as the radiant Maid Marian, Basil Rathbone as the aristocratic Sir Guy of Gisbourne, and Claude Rains as the conniving Prince John further bolster this already impressive production, and perfectly compliment Flynn's swaggering take on the famous thief. Always a popular item when offered for auction, this poster has been professionally restored and no longer shows slight fold wear, pinholes, and an ink stamp in the left border. Still faintly visible is slight toning and a few instances of surface wear in the lower left background and bottom border. Overall, the poster presents very well and is among the most collectable pieces of its genre.
