    Description

The Hustler (20th Century Fox, 1961). One Sheet (27" X 41"). The part of "Fast" Eddie Felsen earned Paul Newman his first Oscar, though for Robert Rossen's 1961 film, he could only garner a nomination. Newman would have to wait 25 years for Martin Scorsese to resurrect the character in the sequel, "The Color of Money." Newman almost never had a chance to play the arrogant young pool shark, as he was scheduled to begin filming "Two for the Seesaw" with Elizabeth Taylor; luckily "Cleopatra" turned into a massive overproduction, keeping Elizabeth Taylor anchored to Richard Burton, so Newman did not have to relinquish the role to Jack Lemmon or Cliff Robertson. Jackie Gleason appears in a rare dramatic turn as Minnesota Fats, and George C. Scott plays Eddie's mentor. This poster wrinkles slightly, has a bit of foxing along the left edge and is rubber stamped on the right side. Collectors have sought material for this title for years, so you can bet that this one sheet will be in high demand. Very Fine+.
