    Description

1936 Olympic Games (Propaganda Committee for the Olympic Games, 1936). Rolled, Very Fine. Full-Bleed German Poster (25" X 40") Franz Würbel Artwork, English Version.
The official poster of the 1936 Olympic Games, Franz Würbel's poster "was designed to dominate and impress, and met the threefold objective of indicating the importance of the Olympiad, proclaiming Berlin as the host city and publicizing the Games in an effective and internationally understandable manner." The Olympics were a perfect arena for the Nazi propaganda machine, unsurpassed at staging elaborate public spectacles and rallies. Pageantry, record-breaking athletic feats, and warm German hospitality made the 1936 Olympic Games memorable for athletes and spectators. Behind the facade, was a ruthless dictatorship persecuting its enemies and armed for war to acquire new ground for the "Aryan master race." This stately country of origin poster is a first-time offering from Heritage and shows slight edge wear, mild creasing, and minor tears. The colors are bright and the poster displays well.
