Flying Disc Man from Mars (Republic, 1950). Very Fine- on Linen. Stock Three Sheet (41.5" X 79.75").
Walter Reed stars as our hero in this twelve chapter sci-fi serial, embarking on a campy adventure involving not just the invading Martian from the title, but former Nazis as well! The reuse and editing of footage from other serials was a common practice at the time, especially at Republic, and this project was originally supposed to borrow film from The Adventures of Captain Marvel. However, due to the tangled snarl that was the lawsuit between DC Comics and Fawcett Publications, that idea was scrapped and the studio instead used stock footage from The Purple Monster Strikes and King of the Mounties. Trying to cash in on the enormous popularity of the sci-fi craze in the late '50s, the serial would later be re-edited and released as a feature film under the new title Missile Monsters. Never before offered at Heritage, this three sheet has received some touchup, which has been applied to fold wear with mild separations, pinholes, and a few moderate tears. There were small chips in the folds and edges, and restoration has also addressed two ink censorship stamps in the right background. Very Fine- on Linen.
