    Description

The Day the Earth Stood Still (20th Century Fox, 1951). Lobby Card Set of 8 (11" X 14").
Heritage is pleased to present the very scarce, complete lobby card set from one of the best sci-fi films of the 1950s, The Day the Earth Stood Still. A spacecraft lands near the White House, carrying a mild-mannered interplanetary traveler named Klaatu. He admonishes Earthlings for their aggressive ways, advising that they live in peace or accept the consequences -- that rulers from other planets will be forced to incinerate Earth. His "bodyguard" is Gort, a huge robot who beams death rays whenever threatened. No one believes that Klaatu's intentions are peaceful, however, and when he is assassinated, the lethal power of Gort is unleashed. Will Gort destroy the Earth? This is a rare opportunity to acquire a complete lobby set for the quintessential sci-fi thriller. The cards display very well after light touchup to pinholes in the corners. Card #6 has a bottom right corner bend and #8 has smudging in the bottom border/credits. Very Fine+.
