    Description

Star Trek (Paramount, 1987-1990s). Very Fine+. Contax Camera Bodies (2) (RTS: 6.25" X 5" & S2b: 5.25" X 3.5") with Lenses (5), Rings (2), Focal Doubler, Flash in Original Case, & Other Accessories in Backpack (14" X 16"). From the collection of Dan Curry, long-running visual effects specialist for the Star Trek franchise.
Featured in this lot are two Contax cameras used by the Emmy Award-winning visual effects producer Dan Curry in the making of several television series, particularly many iterations of the Star Trek series like The Next Generation, Voyager, Deep Space 9, and Enterprise. Curry made some of the most memorable scenes in the Star Trek universe with these cameras' images, combining their highly-detailed photos with exquisite matte paintings and set pieces to create stunning alien vistas. From the lagoons of the pleasure planet Risa, to the Bajoran fire caves, and even the shots of early Earth seen in The Next Generation series finale, Curry used his artistic intuition to create fantastical scenes based on photos taken across the globe. Included are multiple accessories to go with the Contax RTS and S2b camera bodies inside a padded Tamrack camera backpack, like the Zeiss Vario-Sonnar 35-70mm T3.4 and Zeiss Vario-Planar 100-300mm T4.5 to 5.6 zoom lenses; the Zeiss Planar 50mm T1.4, Zeiss Distagon 18mm T4, and Zeiss Distagon 28mm T2 prime lenses; a Zeiss Mutar 2x focal length doubler; a Contax TLA flash; a Contax reverser ring; a Hoya 55 to 52mm step down ring; two cable releasers (bother electronic and mechanical); and a rubber lens hood, along with other various accoutrements. Despite years of extensive travel and use, all of the items have been well cared for and are in excellent condition, showing at most the occasional surface scuff or smudge.
