    Description

Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home by Bob Peak (Paramount, 1987). Signed and Framed Original Mixed-Media Poster Artwork (Artwork: 40" X 57.5", Framed: 43" X 61").
The fourth outing of the original television series crew finds themselves traveling back in time to 1986 to steal two humpback whales to communicate with a deep space probe that has rendered technology in the Federation inert. Critically acclaimed, the film was light on the science fiction, but heavy on the environmental messages that director Leonard Nimoy was interested in. Paramount turned to their long time ad agency, Spiros Associates, and illustrator Bob Peak to once again design the film posters. Peak was able to design and develop two beautiful images for the film. The advance style has the Star Trek title credit streaking towards an unsuspecting San Francisco. The regular version, presented here, shows amazing portraits of the cast with a Klingon Bird of Prey crossing over the Golden Gate Bridge. The use of reds, oranges, and purples of the evening sky of San Francisco is balanced with the stark greens and blues of the Bird of Prey. Arguably, one of the better designed posters of Peak's Trek series, there is ample space for the addition of the film credits, title, and tag lines that does not interfere with the overall picture. This masterful image by Peak would be a standout item in any science fiction fan's collection, especially since it is the largest pieces he did of all the Trek films. The illustration board has been mounted to foamcore, is in immaculate condition with vibrant colors; with only the faintest of handling wear due to storage and small pinholes along the edges from being framed. The board has been signed by Peak, and will include a gold frame. Due to the size/weight of the item, shipping costs will be higher than usual. Near Mint.
