    Description

Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan by Bob Peak (Paramount, 1982) Original Mixed Media Concept Artwork (32" X 40").
Legendary illustrator Bob Peak created five movie posters featuring the original television cast during his tenure with long time Paramount ad agency, Spiros Associates. Peak went to work on the second film in the franchise, producing some amazing concept art pieces that led up to the final printed version. The artist chose to have the antagonist, Khan (played devilishly by Ricardo Montalban) looming over the Enterprise crew, a detail that remained throughout his comps, although having Khan fully seen or hidden behind a mask varied. The addition of other details such as the positioning of Kirk, Spock, and Saavak, the Genesis device, and the "battle" between the Enterprise and Space Station Regula 1, also varied slightly between pieces. This particular comp shows a partially masked Khan over the Genesis device with closer views of the Enterprise crew. Peak's uses of vibrant colors and dynamic classic adventure design shows the path that the final piece will eventually become. The portraits of Kirk, Spock, and Saavik have been affixed onto the illustration board during the fabrication of this piece. Heritage is proud to present this item for the first time. The board itself is in excellent condition with only corner bumps and pinholes along the upper edge of the board. The illustration board is affixed onto black foamcore. Very Fine/Near Mint.
