    Description

Solyaris (Sovexportfilm, 1972). Russian Poster for Export to Foreign Language Countries (32" X 45"). Based on a novel by Stanislaw Lem, this metaphysical sci-fi drama centers on a psychologist that is sent to a space station in order to investigate the mysterious deaths that have occurred among the cosmonaut crew. Once there he discovers a supernatural phenomenon that brings out repressed memories and obsessions, altering the crew's perception between the imagination and reality. The film was remade in 2002 by director Steven Soderbergh, though many feel this version by Tarkovski was a close to perfect as could be imagined. This film was hailed by critics internationally upon release as a masterpiece of current Russian cinema and its cult status has risen over the years. Posters for this 1972 release have always been difficult to find especially since the Russian release was very limited. There are the typical fold lines and light surface creases; otherwise the poster is in excellent condition. Very Fine+.
