Description

Just Imagine (Fox, 1930). Half Sheet (22" X 29") Style A.
Set in the far-flung year of 1980, Just Imagine tells the story of a man revived in that year and shown the wonders of the future, including babies that come from vending machines, dirigible airliners, videophones, numbers instead of names, and a rocket trip to Mars. Considered by many to be the very first science fiction film of the sound era - and certainly the very first science fiction musical - this picture starred El Brendel, a former vaudevillian and popular comedian who used a Swedish-like accent in his many movie roles. Making this movie extra special is the fact that it featured the first examples of the electrical wizardry of Kenneth Strickfaden, who would go on to achieve fame through his galvanic accomplishments in 1931's Frankenstein. Just Imagine was directed by David Butler, later famous for the great Shirley Temple films and other wonderful musicals, and was written by the famous Tin Pan Alley Team of DeSylva, Brown and Henderson. The posters for this title have always been some of the scarcest known! Heritage has only offered a title card and four scene cards in the past fifteen years! This great poster featuring a futuristic cityscape is slightly oversized and has an uneven upper border. There is rounding and tiny chips to the corners as well as some further wear to the top border. Rolled, Fine+.
