    Invasion of the Body Snatchers (Allied Artists, 1956). Half Sheet (22" X 28") Style B.
    A grim departure from the 1950's mutating, multiplying, mauling creature features, Invasion of the Body Snatchers takes a different play off of the rampant paranoia brought on by blacklisting McCarthyism. The unsettling concept that the enemy is very much among us manifests itself in the form of aliens (aka Communists) that arrive and take over human bodies in a small California community. Kevin McCarthy is the town doctor who first realizes the severity of the situation, and Sam Peckinpah (prior to becoming the great director) makes an appearance in a bit part and assisted with the screenplay. This incredibly popular "Spotlight Dance" half sheet had pinholes in the upper corners, a slight trim in the right border, and a half inch trim in the lower border. The right and lower borders have been airbrushed into the credits. Professional restoration has addressed these issues, leaving the poster in magnificent condition for display. Fine/Very on Paper.
