Forbidden Planet (MGM, 1956). One Sheet (27" X 41").
The one sheet from Forbidden Planet has a dedicated following amongst poster collectors, and is much admired for its Space Age imagery in bright, interplanetary hues of green, purple, and red. The film was MGM's first big-budget sci-fi flick, complete with cutting edge special effects and a plot based on Shakespeare's The Tempest, but set in the 23rd century. Leslie Nielsen commands a cruiser ship on a rescue mission to a remote planet where Dr. Morbius (Walter Pidgeon) has been stranded for the last few decades. The good doctor has made the best of his accidental exile, building something of a utopia for he and his daughter (Anne Francis). Robby the Robot, a far superior technological creation than anything on Earth, vigilantly protects the paradise. It's no surprise this film had a big impact on future outer space tales, including Star Trek. The one sheet is in immaculate condition and receives the highest grade possible for a poster mounted on linen. A "must-have" for discerning poster collectors! Very Fine+ on Linen.
