2001: A Space Odyssey (MGM, 1968). One Sheet (27" X 41") Cinerama Style C, Robert McCall Artwork.
Artist Robert T. McCall had been commissioned by NASA to document the space program's achievements, and so became a logical choice by MGM to design the campaign for Stanley Kubrick's masterpiece. McCall did several posters for the film, but this is by far the rarest of the designs he did. Only theaters presenting the film in Cinerama used this rare style C format, for which many theatres were not equipped, and so these posters were distributed in smaller quantities. Always an item on many sci-fi collectors' radars, this one sheet has touchup to the folds, pinholes in the borders and interior, and small chips in the borders and folds. The color has been enhanced in areas and the background has has some airbrush work. Fine+ on Linen.
