    Description

    20,000 Leagues Under the Sea by Jean Mascii (Buena Vista, R-1963). Very Fine. Signed Original Gouache Artwork on Illustration Board (25" X 19") used for the French Double Grande.
    One of the finest French movie poster artists in the industry, Jean Mascii, provides a beautiful illustration for Walt Disney's film adaptation of Jules Verne's most famous novel. Disney's version features an outstanding performance from James Mason as Captain Nemo, supported by a fine cast including Kirk Douglas, Paul Lukas, and Peter Lorre. This lovely gouache painting, used as the finished poster illustration for the French grande (63" X 93"), has been signed by the artist. Making its first ever appearance at Heritage, this one of a kind piece has mild edge wear, minor corner bumps, and light surface scuffs. There are some faint stains towards the top, although these may be from the creation process, as well as adhesive registration marks attached to the painting used in the printing process. Very Fine.
