Description

When a Man Loves (Warner Brothers, 1927). One Sheet (28" X 41") Style B.
After the success of Don Juan, star John Barrymore, director Alan Crosland, and screenwriter Bess Meredyth once again combined their talents for this adaptation of the classic novel and opera, Manon Lesaut. Manon (Dolores Costello) has been sold into prostitution by her wicked brother Andre (Warner Oland). She then meets and falls in love with the dashing Chevalier Fabian (John Barrymore) and leaves her much-older "protector," the Count de Montfontaine (Sam De Grasse). The two star-crossed lovers are caught however and banished to a penal colony in New Orleans. This beautiful stone litho offers a stunning image of Barrymore in one of his classic silent era roles. There are pinholes in the corners, very minor crossfold separation, some foxing on the verso that does not bleed through, and very light wear in the left edge. Folded, Very Fine.
