    Description

    The Whistler (Columbia, 1947). First Post-War Release Italian 4 - Fogli (55" X 77.5") Anselmo Ballester Artwork.
Based off of the popular 1940s CBS radio drama, this picture is the first in a series of eight crime thrillers narrated by "The Whistler," a never seen denizen of the criminal underworld who narrates the opening and closing of the film. Richard Dix stars as either a hero or a villain in all but one of the films, this time playing a distraught widower who contracts a hitman to put him out of his misery. The plan hits a snag when Dix discovers that his wife is actually alive, and he has no way to call off the hit. With characteristically stunning art by Anselmo Ballester, Italian format shows edge and fold wear, some fold separations, pinholes, and mild creases. There are small tears and chips in the borders and folds, and the poster has some small stains. Folded, Fine/Very Fine.
