    The Shadow Detective Stories (Universal, 1931). Lobby Cards (28) (11" X 14"). Research shows this to be "The Shadow's" first appearance in film. These were short films with different directors and casts. Offered are full and partial lobby sets from #'s 1, 2, 3, and 5 in the series, totaling 28 cards in all, in four different duotone colors. The rarest cards are here, in film #1, "The Burglar to the Rescue," 7 cards, with the Shadow on the title card and on one lobby. This set shows a stain in the top center title card, printing marks, a small corner chip on one card, some minor surface scuffs, and some pinholes. F-. #2, "Trapped," 6 cards: minor pinholes, minor edge wear and tears. There is a small edge tear on the title card. F-. #3, "Sealed Lips," a full set: top right corner crease on the title card, pinholes in only one card, and minor other edge wear. VF. #5, "The Red Shadow," 7 cards: light edge wear, small paper surface scuff on one, light edge wear, and pinholes. VF.
