The Lion Man (Universal, 1919). One Sheet (27" X 41").
This eighteen episode, pre-1920, Universal serial one sheet proclaims "Look At This Cast!"...and with good reason. A true beauty of the period, Kathleen O'Connor, heads the cast as a crusading newspaper reporter going undercover in a mysterious circus. O'Connor, a Mack Sennett bathing beauty, was in many films from five Tom Mix Westerns to Stan Laurel's Whose Zoo? That's Mack V. Wright as the mysterious "Lion Man" who comes to O'Connor's aid at surprising times. Wright would go on to become a top second assistant director in films working on almost 100 films from 1926 to 1961 including The Mummy's Curse. Jack Perrin rode this serial to stardom, before becoming a big Western hero, and holds a film history niche as being the star of the first All-Talking B Western (Overland Bound)! Barney Sherry was one of the best character actors in silent films, in everything from Gloria Swanson's Her Decision, Lillian Gish's The White Sister, and 213 more films from 1905-1929. And if you're not familiar with one of the most popular actresses in the Hollywood colony, you should watch some Gertrude Astor tonight...(Harry Langdon's The Strong Man, or any of her Hal Roach/ Our Gang/ Charley Chase/ John Ford films). Professionally linenbacked with minimum restoration needed for just slight edge wear with small tears, some crossfold separations, and small chips in the borders. Fine+ on Linen.
