    Description

Charlie Chan at the Race Track (20th Century Fox, 1936). Italian 4 - Fogli (55" X 77.5") Anselmo Ballester Artwork.
Warner Oland stars as detective Charlie Chan for the twelfth time with Keye Luke costarring as Lee, Chan's Number One Son. Although there have been numerous incarnations of the Chinese-Hawaiian sleuth in film and on television, the character first appeared in a series of novels by American author Earl Derr Biggers, who created the astute and benevolent character to combat the harsh stereotyping of Asians during the Yellow Peril. Warner Oland starred in a grand total of sixteen Charlie Chan movies, by far the most popular character of his career and a role he took most seriously, going so far as to study Chinese and calligraphy. This marks Heritage's first time to sell any Italian paper for this murder mystery, an especially exciting opportunity with its amazing artwork by Anselmo Ballester. Prior to restoration, this fantastic poster showed some pinholes in the background and image area, a slight chip in the upper border with smaller chips in the right border, a tear from the left border above the "La" in the title, a fold separation on the right side below the joint, and minor touchup to the folds. There is some toning still visible in the folds and tax stamps with rubber stamps of them in the upper left. Very Fine on Linen.
