The Harvey Girls (MGM, 1949). First Post-War Release Italian 4 - Fogli (55" X 77") Ercole Brini Artwork.
Always a Judy Garland fan favorite, The Harvey Girls saw Garland and Ray Bolger together again for the first time since Dorothy and the Scarecrow danced down the yellow brick road. Angela Lansbury makes an early appearance, as well as Cyd Charisse in her first cinematic speaking role. Rounding it all out was a fabulous score from industry veterans Harry Warren and Johnny Mercer, who netted an Academy Award for the unforgettable "On the Atchison, Topeka and the Santa Fe." Despite this time period marking the beginning of Garland's notorious tardiness and absences on set, the star absolutely nailed the song's lengthy and elaborate one-shot opening sequence, and they were able to wrap the scene after just two takes! The wonderful Ercole Brini offers a lovely impressionistic rendering of Garland and co-star John Hodiak, on this beautiful Italian 4 - fogli. The poster is still in great shape, with just slight edge and fold wear, mild fold separation, pinholes, unobtrusive stains and smudges, and small tears, along with light surface paper loss in the background, and signs of faint toning. Folded, Fine/Very Fine.
