    Description

Strike Up the Band (MGM, 1940). Fine/Very Fine on Linen. Autographed One Sheet (27.25" X 41.25") Style D.
Judy Garland and Mickey Rooney, a powerhouse pair that made a number of films together, became two of the highest paid stars of the 1940s. Aptly named, Strike Up the Band features Rooney starting up a swing band in his high school. The group must raise money to travel to Chicago so the band can enter a national contest, and of course, the only way they can raise money is to "put on a show." Audiences loved every minute of it, and it made Garland-Rooney movies some of the most popular of the era. Autographed and inscribed by Mickey Rooney, this poster has had touchup applied to fold wear and a diagonal scratch from the side of Rooney's head almost to Paul Whiteman's credit. There is some unaddressed faint ink stamp bleedthrough, as well as thin dust shadows. Fine/Very Fine on Linen.
