Description

    Woodstock Lot (1969). Autographed Wallkill Poster (13.5" X 22.5"), Autographed Poster (24" X 36.75"), Poster (18" X 24.5"), Unused Tickets (3) (2" X 5"), Autographed Magazine (10.5" X 13.75"), & Museum Exhibit Posters (3) (6" X 18" & 12" X 18").
Offered here is a fantastic lot of items from the historic Woodstock music festival in 1969. The highlight of which is an original David Byrd Wallkill poster, signed by the artist. Woodstock Ventures initially leased a tract of land in an industrial park in Wallkill for the show. Town officials were deeply concerned about the expected crowd size, and disallowed the festival through the Zoning Board of Appeals. Prior to this, Woodstock Ventures asked David Byrd to design a poster for the event. He based his creation on Ingre's La Source, and surrounded the image with cupids, flowers, and hearts in jewel-tone colors. After Wallkill forbade their location and the show and organizers had it moved to Max Yasgur's farm, artist Arnold Skolnick was asked to create a new poster, and Byrd's was never used. This is a fantastic and rare item for Woodstock collectors. Also included in this lot is a Skolnick version from the festival that has been signed by Arnold Skolnick, a revision two example of Skolnick's poster, three unused tickets from the concert with a certificate of authenticity, a special edition of LIFE Magazine covering the show that has also been signed by Arnold Skolnick, and three exhibit posters from The Museum at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts that feature Byrd and Skolnick's art. The revision two version of the Skolnick poster has pinholes in the corners, creases, and scuffs. The LIFE magazine has spine and surface wear, light handling wear, and a tear in the top of the back cover. The remaining items are in excellent condition. Rolled, Very Fine-.
