Tom's Gang (FBO, 1927). One Sheet (27" X 41") Style A.This fine silent Western produced by Joseph P. Kennedy, future president JFK's father, stars the strapping Tom Tyler as Dave Collins, a young man who is bequeathed a ranch on the condition that he marry the late owner's granddaughter Lucille (Sharon Lynn). When he arrives at the ranch with young sidekick Spuds (Frankie Darro), Dave finds that a distant relative of Lucille's, (Barney Furey), has taken his place. Tom Tyler starred in a series of Tom and His Pals films for FBO and was one of the most durable stars of the early Western cinema. Tyler's career spanned from the mid-1920s into the early 1950s, having starred in serials (Adventures of Captain Marvel), horror (The Mummy's Hand) and Westerns. With a heroic stone litho image of Tyler hoisting his gun in vibrant color, this one sheet makes a beautiful showpiece. Minor flaws that have been addressed with excellent restoration include: pinholes in the borders, and a cleanly torn piece off of the upper right corner which has been reattached and retouched to make the damage invisible to the eye. Fine+ on Linen.
