    Description

The Telegraph Trail (Warner Bros., 1933). Fine/Very Fine on Linen. One Sheet (27" X 41").
Though he had taken uncredited parts in dozens of films since 1926, John Wayne was still a newcomer to Hollywood stardom when he headlined this 1933 B Western. Acting opposite Marceline Day, Wayne plays John Trent, a scout sent by the U.S. Calvary to investigate Native American sabotage of the trans-continental telegraph lines. This was one of six films to cleverly star The Duke (Wayne's childhood nickname) with Duke the Devil Horse, both similar enough in appearance to Ken Maynard and his horse Tarzan that the studio could splice in footage from Maynard's old scenes. This impressive stone litho poster has had expertly handled restoration to address creases in the borders, minor tears, a tear that extends slightly into the background, a small hole in the right side of the image, and another in the left border. There were a few corner chips and surface paper loss along the edges of some of the borders, all of which has been restored with airbrushing in the borders. This absolutely stunning poster retains its bright colors and showcases Wayne at his most impressive.

    Estimate: $4,000 - $8,000.
