    The Searchers (Warner Bros., 1956). Very Good/Fine on Linen. One Sheet (27" X 42").
    This true classic of the American cinema is considered by many to be one of the greatest Westerns ever made. Director John Ford's film of a war weary ex-Confederate soldier who becomes obsessed with hunting down the Comanche tribe who has massacred his family and kidnapped his young niece, has been copied by many, but never equaled. John Wayne gives the performance of his career, in the role he claimed to be his favorite, as Ethan Edwards. The cast included many of the Ford ensemble, including Ward Bond, Harry Carey Jr., Jeffrey Hunter, Vera Miles, and a young Natalie Wood, who would play the niece kidnapped by the Comanche, Scar. And of course, the scenery of Monument Valley decorates this incredible poster with deep color saturation. Professional restoration has made corrections to fold wear and separations, creases, pinholes, and tears into the interior. Also addressed were scratches, stains, as well as some paper loss, particularly in the upper crossfolds and upper left corner. There was painted writing in the upper left background, that is only faintly visible after airbrushing. The poster's borders and white background have also been airbrushed. These excellent conservation efforts have rendered this poster display-ready for any fan of the Duke.
