This star-studded production helmed by Cecil B. DeMille includes some of the greatest Western icons in history, with the likes of Wild Bill Hickok (Gary Cooper), Buffalo Bill Cody (James Ellison), Calamity Jane (Jean Arthur), and General George Armstrong Custer (John Miljan) all entangling while Bill tries to quell a Native American uprising. This version takes extensive creative liberties with historical fact, covering about 11 years of history in the span of three months in the film, though it all works out for the sheer degree of entertainment value stuffed into this DeMille Western. Heritage offers for the first time an oversized French double grande for The Plainsman, which expansively previews the film's exciting action sequences and winning performances from its principal cast. The poster shows slight lifting from the linen in some places, some chips in the folds, creases, and mild fold toning.
