    Description

The Outlaw (United Artists, 1946). Half Sheet (22" X 28").
Howard Hughes fired the directors for his version of the events of the life of Billy the Kid and took over the directorial chores himself. Hughes was a bit smitten with his leading lady, Jane Russell and wanted the camera to love her as much as he did. The films was made in 1941 and about to be released by 20th Century Fox when the studio suddenly dropped it due to its lack of "decency". The film was then briefly and independently distributed by Hughes until it was picked up by United Artists in 1946. This half sheet is technically from the actual first theatrical release of the film. There has been restoration to the fold lines, primarily in the yellow background and the in the films title. The borders have been airbrushed and there has been a slight bit of touch-up to the bridge of Jane Russell's nose. Fine on Linen.
