    Description

    The Outlaw (RKO, R-1950). Full-Bleed Australian Daybill (13" X 30").
Of any film ever made by Hollywood, none had more publicity than Howard Hughes's The Outlaw. It was the film debut of nineteen-year-old Jane Russell, whose voluptuous curves caused quite a stir. The "official" release was delayed from 1941 until 1946. One of the many major obstacles was the film's poster art, as the pin-up style of many of them was considered too suggestive for the American public and had to be modified. Apparently, as this daybill demonstrates, Australian audiences needed far less moral guidance, making this poster considerably more interesting than its U. S. counterpart. Based on the Zoe Mozert art used for the Spanish release one sheet from 1946, this color rich piece truly pays homage to one of Hollywood's most alluring leading ladies. There are two small tears on the top border, and a crease on the left side near the top. The poster has been backed on Masa paper. Folded, Very Fine+.
