This revenge-driven Western starring Clint Eastwood was the actor's fifth feature-length directorial effort after he replaced original director Philip Kaufman following continued acrimony between the two. This incited the Directors' Guild of America to institute the "Eastwood rule," which read that no current cast or crew member on a film could replace the director, though this did not discourage the star from continuing to develop as a filmmaker behind the camera. Eastwood went on to become an incredibly prolific and award-winning director, and is well-known for directing Western vehicles for himself that provide commentary on the persona he took on after his turns in spaghetti Westerns in the 1960s. Heritage offers a large 40" X 60" poster for The Outlaw Josey Wales featuring Roy Anderson's beguiling and commanding artwork for this Eastwood-led tragedy. The poster shows minor signs of use, including light edge wear, mild creases, small tears, pinholes, and faint toning, and though it is backed on linen no other restorative work has been applied or needed.
