The New Frontier (Republic, 1935). Six Sheet (81" X 81").
Republic Pictures rode to the rescue and cast the up and coming B Western star John Wayne in a series of horse operas that were far superior to the films he had churned out at Lone Star Films. Set against the Oklahoma land rush of 1889, this was one of Wayne's better action thrillers that would propel him into greater roles in the next few years. Six sheets for Wayne's films from this period are virtually unheard of and this one captures a perfect likeness of the Duke in his prime. This stone litho poster had a small hole in the background of the lower black area, and some more paper loss in the upper left section within John's credit and black background. There are also some cracks that occurred after the poster was backed in "The" of the title and within the "E" of Wayne's name. Fine+ on Linen.
