    Description

The Man from Monterey (Warner Brothers - First National, 1933). Three Sheet (40.5" X 75").
In his very early film career, John Wayne toiled at supporting other B-Western stars like Tim McCoy and Buck Jones. Then, in 1933, Warner Brothers Studio needed a B Western star for their 4 Star Westerns under the control of Leon Schlesinger and John Wayne would received his chance at stardom. He was given top billing and made several films from 1933 to 1934 that would solidify his Western on-screen persona and create a legend in the process. Collectors of the Western film poster genre will be hard pressed to find a finer image of John Wayne than the one on this 1933 stone lithograph three sheet. A youthful Wayne and his trusty horse "Duke" rescue beauty Ruth Hall in vivid, crisp color. Quality linenbacking and minimal restoration were applied to address chipping along the top vertical fold, a chip in the left border, light stains in the top border into the background, and pinholes in the corners. This poster is a true classic from the beginning days of John Wayne's career. Fine/Very Fine on Linen.
