    Description

The Life of Buffalo Bill (Pawnee Bill Film Co., 1912). One Sheet (28.25" X 41.25").
William F. Cody (a.k.a. Buffalo Bill) was one of the most colorful figures of the Old West. Before Cody went into show business he had a number of occupations including: trapper, Colorado "Fifty-Niner," Pony Express rider, wagon master, stagecoach driver, Civil War soldier, and even hotel manager. He was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor in 1872 for his role as a scout for the United States Army (1868-1872). Cody's Wild West Shows were an enormous success in the late 1880s and remained a popular subject in the early 1900s when this very early silent three-reeler was made. Prior to restoration, there was small surface paper loss in the bottom border, a small chip by the horses blanket, a tear at the top vertical fold, one small tear in the left border, and one pinhole in the right and left border. This is a gorgeous stone litho one sheet displaying a dashing figure of Cody in his prime. Fine/Very Fine on Linen.
