    Description

The Devil Dodger (Triangle, 1917). One Sheet (27.75" X 41").
The name Roy Stewart might mean little today, but in the mid-to-late 1910s, Stewart was a close competitor to Western stars such as William S. Hart and Tom Mix. In this early cowboy picture, Stewart portrays Silent Scott, a gambler who runs a frontier town with an iron fist. Upon the scene arrives a wandering preacher, referred to in those days as a "Sky Pilot," played by future matinee idol John Gilbert. Stewart appears in a life size portrait on this handsome stone litho one sheet, which has touchup to Stewart's face and shirt, wear at the center horizontal fold with chipping, and some chipping in Stewart's credit. The title and lower credit area have had masking and airbrushing, and the borders have been airbrushed. Very Good on Linen.
