Description

The Avenging Rider (FBO, 1928). Folded, Fine/Very Fine. Three Sheet (41" X 78.5").
So rare is paper for this title that we have never before had the chance to offer a poster from it, and this glorious three sheet certainly makes for a smashing debut for 1928's The Avenging Rider. Though much is unknown about the film, its star, Tom Tyler, shines through all the mystery. Born Vincent Markowski in 1903, Tom Tyler was an American actor renowned for his work in Westerns and adventure serials throughout the 1920s, 1930s, and 1940s. Rising to fame as a silent film cowboy star, he seamlessly transitioned to sound cinema, taking on iconic roles such as Captain Marvel in The Adventures of Captain Marvel (1941) and the Mummy in The Mummy's Hand (1940). With his rugged features and athletic prowess, he became a staple of action-packed films, often appearing alongside legends like John Wayne in numerous B-movie Westerns. Though his career declined in the late 1940s due to health challenges, Tyler's enduring legacy in early Westerns and serials cemented his place in the history of classic Hollywood cinema. Printed in three panels, this poster is in great shape for its age, showing understandable imperfections such as minor edge and fold wear, slight creases, smudges, a few scuffs, some fold and crossfold separation, mostly small chips, slight stains, and small to significant tears.
